After embarking on cleaning exercises at different locations in the municipality a week ago, the Bo City Council has on Sunday 15th August 2021 spread granite stones in the Bo City central market and the Kenema Lorry Park.

Veronica Josephine Fortune, Chief Administrator of the Bo City council, said as a council they had a responsibility to ensure that services were provided to the tax payers.

The CA stated that this is raining season and that the Council decided to spread granite stones on the floor of the market and the Kenema Lorry Park along Fenton Road to make the market becomes comfortable to sellers, buyers, passengers and drivers.

The chief administrator further stated that the council spent millions of leones from own source revenue collected from tax payers to acquire the granite stones.
” The council is prepared, ready to take development to the tax payers. We want them to continue paying their taxes to the council for more developments,” Mrs. Fortune said.

Kadie Conteh, a resident at Kulanda Town in Bo, who went to buy at the market in the morning of Sunday, thanked the Council for the ongoing development at the market and City. “I wear high shoe to come to town. I never knew that the council is spreading stones at the market,” said Ms Conteh.
A trader, Mariama Kamara, said the development is timely. “We’re not paying tax for nothing. We are seeing that our taxes are reflecting on us as the council is spending and providing services for us at the market. I hope the council will continue with such development, not only at the central market but other markets in Bo city,” added Mariama.

Many traders have built tables ontop of the drainage in the Shenge central market, which is making it difficult for the rain to flow smoothly and they’re pouring gabage there. Another trader, Alimamy Hassan Bangura, said that the council should look into this issue during the raining season.
Vice chairman, drivers union Bo district, Mr. Sorie Kamara, popularly known as S.K Malowa, thanked the Bo City council for helping them out with granite stones. Mr. Kamara said the union was grateful to the council for such development. He urged the drivers who sleep at the park to protect the stones against thieves. The vice chairman described the C A as a caring administrator.

Veronica Josephine Fortune is the first female Chief Administrator of the Bo City Council.
The question on the lips of residents in Bo is: who will be the next Mayor of the Bo City council to come and continue the ongoing development at the council?
Many popular names have started showing interest. But the question remains: who really is the fittest candidate? Well, the people will decide in the next local council elections.
