Africell Enhances Bo City with New London Roundabout Beautification

Bo, Sierra Leone — Africell Sierra Leone has marked a significant milestone in the development of Bo City by completing the beautification of the New London Roundabout. This project, which was officially inaugurated on August 29, 2024, represents a key advancement in the city’s infrastructure and aesthetic enhancement.

The ceremony, attended by prominent figures including Africell’s Southeast Manager Khalil Fawaz, highlighted the telecom company’s dedication to supporting local community projects. Fawaz expressed Africell’s commitment to making positive contributions across Sierra Leone, stating, “Africell is thrilled to collaborate with the Bo City Council to improve our cities. We are proud to play a role in transforming Bo into a leading city upcountry.”

Fawaz noted that while Africell has traditionally focused its efforts in Freetown, the company is now broadening its support to other regions. He announced plans to further beautify four additional roundabouts in Bo, specifically at Bonjon Street, Shellmingo, Mahei Boima/Sewa Roads, and Mobil.

Mr. Powell, representing the Bo City Council, expressed gratitude for Africell’s contribution, stating, “We are excited about the continued beautification efforts and look forward to seeing the completion of other planned roundabouts. This initiative is a crucial part of our city’s development strategy.”

Moses Massaquoi from the Motor Drivers’ Union also praised the project, noting its positive impact on road safety. “The improvements to the New London roundabout enhance safety for drivers, particularly those unfamiliar with Bo. The new protective measures are greatly appreciated,” Massaquoi remarked.

Mayor Musa of Bo City highlighted the beautification project as a testament to effective public-private partnerships. “This project represents our shared commitment to the growth and beautification of Bo. It showcases the power of collaboration and community spirit,” he said. The Mayor also urged the community to take pride in the new development and ensure its upkeep.

The collaboration between Africell and the Bo City Council exemplifies the potential of public-private partnerships to drive meaningful improvements in urban areas, marking a significant step forward for Bo City’s development.
