Tailor’s Life in Danger After Political Tensions

The mysterious disappearance of Mohamed Samura has left his family in fear for his life. According to reports, the young tailor has endured brutal treatment at the hands of security personnel ever since President Bio invited retired Major Paulo Conteh to State House in response to the growing COVID-19 pandemic. Conteh, known for his expertise, was called in to assist with the national crisis.

During Conteh’s first visit, he met with members of the All People’s Congress (APC) youth wing, encouraging them to produce and distribute face masks throughout the country. These masks, bearing the APC logo, soon became the source of tension. Security forces allegedly harassed and assaulted those distributing the masks, accusing them of unauthorized political campaigning under the guise of public health efforts.

On his second visit to State House, Conteh was arrested for carrying a weapon, which escalated the situation. Security forces launched a raid on the APC office, where Mohamed Samura, as head tailor, was viciously beaten. He barely escaped and went into hiding, but his troubles didn’t end there. In September, his home was raided, and he was beaten again by officers demanding to know his whereabouts—unaware that the man they were after was standing right before them. To save his life, Samura had to lie about his identity.

Fearing for his safety, Samura has gone into hiding, as security forces allegedly continue to hunt for him, with one officer reportedly vowing to “end his story.”
