Mamajah Jalloh
Two military officers, Mohamed Buya Fofanah, 49, and Idrissa Conteh, 46, appeared in Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Thursday, October 3, 2024, for the continuation of their trial on charges of store breaking and larceny.
The officers are facing two counts: one of store breaking and larceny contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916, and another for receiving stolen goods in violation of Section 33(1) of the same act. According to the prosecution, the alleged offenses took place on July 16, 2024, at the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) compound located on Kirma Port Loko Road, Lungi Kafu Bullom Chiefdom, Port Loko District.
The particulars of the case state that the accused allegedly broke into the SLRA store and stole six solar batteries and thirty-four solar panels, valued at a total of 79,000 Leones, which belong to the Sierra Leone Roads Authority. Additionally, Fofanah is accused of receiving two solar panels valued at 2,000 Leones from Conteh, knowing that they had been stolen.
When the charges were read and explained, no plea was entered by the accused.
Prosecutor Detective Police Constable Thoronka K.K. applied for a bench warrant for the second accused, Conteh, who was absent from court. He also requested a short adjournment, citing the absence of a witness. Magistrate Santigie Bangura granted the application.
The court has adjourned the matter to October 10, 2024, for further proceedings.
