Freetown, Sierra Leone – Julian Jusu, a 21-year-old student, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 on Friday, 10th December, 2024, facing two charges: Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916 and Malicious Damage contrary to section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Sunday, 3rd November 2024, at the Attaya base Blue House, IMATT in the Mountain Rural District, Freetown, Jusu allegedly stole nine rolls of 4 M.M.A.C cables and twelve rolls of 2.5 M.M cables, valued at 25,350 Leones. These items were the property of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohamed Lamin Tarawalie, while under the custody of Hassan Turay.

The second count states that on the same date and at the same location, the accused maliciously damaged the stolen cables, valued at 25,350 Leones.

When the charges were read and explained to Jusu, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Detective Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K.K., requested a short adjournment, citing the absence of a witness in court.

Magistrate Bangura denied bail and remanded the accused to the male correctional facility in Freetown.

The case was adjourned to 18th December 2024 for further hearings.
