Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, the CEO of Luawa FC, is opening Sierra Leone to the wider world through his ongoing third international scouting programme taking place at the Sierra Leone Football Academy, Kingtom. This edition, lasting for four days, is featuring a mix of eight scouts from Europe and two TV crews from Sky Sports. The idea is to identify raw talents for overseas opportunities. This will open Sierra Leone football market to the world, benefit players, their family members, and improve both club and national football performances.Star Sport, Bullom Stars, FC Kallon, United Eagles, and host Luawa FC are some of the clubs taking part. Luawa FC are using their Premier League team, their reserved side, which is taking part in the SLFA Detection event, and their various other branches across the country to boost the talent identification show.Speaking to Newswatch, Dr. Abdulai said Sierra Leone has a lot of talents. “This is the reason we have branches all over the country to identify stars, train them, and put them in front of the world. “Other countries have a lot of professionals in Europe, but Sierra Leone does not have the platform for the world to see our players,” he said.Twelve players are on the brink of being scouted. This third edition is being commissioned by Sky Sports. The channel will do a documentary on what obtains here and title it ‘Diamond in the Rough’.
