Sierra Leone Delegation Arrives in Tehran for Iran-Africa Economic Cooperation Conference

Tehran, April 26, 2025 —
His Excellency Ambassador Salamu Koroma has warmly welcomed a high-level delegation from Sierra Leone at Imam Khomeini International Airport ahead of the Third Iran-Africa Economic Cooperation Conference. The delegation is led by Dr. Theresa Tenneh Dick, Deputy Minister-1 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

The team, which also includes Hon. Brima Bawoh, Deputy Minister of Communications and Civic Education, and Dr. Alie H. Wurie, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Public Health at the Ministry of Health, arrived in Tehran this morning. Their visit underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and promoting development initiatives.

The conference, scheduled from April 27 to May 1, 2025, will bring together senior officials from both the public and private sectors across the African continent. Organized by Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event aims to boost trade relations and foster economic cooperation between Iran and Africa.

In addition to conference proceedings in Tehran, participants will tour industrial facilities in Isfahan Province showcasing Iran’s manufacturing capabilities.

A key highlight of the Sierra Leone delegation’s mission includes discussions on establishing a state-of-the-art cancer diagnostic and treatment center in Sierra Leone, reflecting a deepening of health sector cooperation between the two nations.

Simultaneously, Tehran will host the Seventh Exhibition of Export Capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran Expo 2025) from April 28 to May 2, offering further opportunities for trade, investment, and knowledge exchange.

The presence of the Sierra Leonean delegation at these events signals the country’s proactive engagement in global economic and health initiatives, fostering stronger ties with international partners for national development.
