Institute of Geography and Development Studies Receives USD 70,000 worth of ICT Equipment Njala University, 23rd April, 2021- The Institute of Geography and Development Studies (IGDS) has this morning received seventy thousand United States dollars worth of ICT equipment from the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources towards the setting of the GIS Laboratory at the Institute.
The items were delivered by the suppliers INIC Computers, Freetown, and were received at the Environmental Sciences School, Njala University by Dean Victor Simbay Kabba and other senior members of staff and students. The Dean of the School noted that the USD 70,000 gesture was borne out of the need for Institutions such as Njala University to meaningfully contribute through research to the policy-making process of the Ministry of Mines especially in terms of mineral exportation.
Dr. Kabba appealed to the Mallam O. Administration to speedily support the Institute in providing the much-needed resources to procure materials such as computer tables, electrical appliances, internet connectivity, air conditioners for the eventual setting up of the laboratory which according to him is long overdue. The setting-up of the GIS Laboratory at the IGDS will effectively aid teaching, learning, and research.
