Police Media Communication Unit Reveals…At CID: 28 Wanted, 7 Arrested 21 in hiding

By Mohamed Kamara
The Media Communications Unit of the Sierra Leone Police Force situated at the SLP Headquarter on Friday 11th February 2022 revealed to this reporter that in 2021, the number of suspects wanted by the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters atPademba Road were 28 persons out of which 7 have been arrested while 21 suspects are still on the run.
Most of them are wanted for vehicle theft, fraudulent conversion and various other crimes. The sources say cases like murder are at 0.1% as police have successfully apprehended most murder suspects presently standing trial. Our sources say no one is wanted for crimes like rape as equally so police have apprehended suspects related to the alleged crimes.
The Media Communications personnel praise their colleagues for work well done, noting that even though there are ransoms for anyone who will give information about wanted persons whose pictures have been posted in all police stations countrywide, the public response is very poor. Police believe that most wanted persons have not cross our borders but rather change domiciles and even towns to seek refuge elsewhere in Sierra Leone with different identities.
Police are appealing to all and sundry not to hesitate to call on the nearest police station for information leading to the arrest of suspects on the wanted list. They say their special force is always present incognito in public gatherings.
