CAIRO – Thursday, 15 February 2022: Leading a major investment delegation consisting of representatives of more than five companies, Charge d’affaires, Samuel AlieKargbo, departed Cairo on 10th February and arrived in Freetown on 11 February, 2022 before the arrival of the of the delegation. The delegation which comprised of potential investors in diverse areas of investments in Sierra Leone is scheduled to engage relevant authorities of government and investment houses between13–19 February, 2022.
The business trip is jointly organized by the Sierra Leone Embassy in Cairo and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sierra Leone. The delegation plans to meet with several Ministries Departments and Agencies namely Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sierra Leone Import and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) Ministry of Works, Ministry of Trade, Lands, Defense, Transport and Aviation, Ministry of Planning and other Government of Sierra Leone officials, and leaders in Sierra Leone’s private sector to explore opportunities to enhance engagement with Sierra Leone.
“Sierra Leone is betrothed to strengthening its long-lived economic cooperation with Egypt,” Charge d’affaires Samuel AlieKargbo said. The visit of the business delegation is clear indication of Sierra Leone’s interest in Egyptian private sector in the future. It is also about forging Sierra Leone’s partnerships with countries and regions to expand mutually beneficial opportunities, for Sierra Leone business sector.
The delegation comprises Smart Engineering Solutions (SES), Pan African Movement and Economic Council, Mosa Trading, World Wide Base Technology, and PHARCO Pharmaceuticals. Upon arrival in Sierra Leone, one of the representative of the group said “we are in Sierra Leone to explore the increasing investments opportunities in different sectors”. The five companies have demonstrated interests in areas of infrastructure, information and communications technology, ICT, healthcare, Textiles, Renewable Energy, and Agriculture. Sierra Leone Embassy in Cairo is facilitating potential investors to elevate the importance attached to President Bio’s calls for Economic Diplomacy with reference to entrepreneurship, technology; keeping the spirit of innovation alive in Sierra Leone and the production of value-added products and services to the local market. Through these models, Jobs can be created; innovation and entrepreneurship can be inculcated for promotion of national prosperity and the continuous enhancement of the economy.
Egypt is widely acclaimed With 14 smart cities being developed across Egypt, including the New Administrative Capital. The investors have expressed determination to join forces with local entrepreneurs to increase the momentum of Sierra Leone’s vibrant entrepreneurial sector. Some have expressed keenness to help to establish factories that will serve as the hub for West Africa, while others are poised open business development centers as well as small companies to train talented young Sierra Leoneans in improving their successful business models and management skills.
