This medium has confirmed with the Ministry of Finance, the Electricity Distribution Supply Authority and Karpowership that there will be no suspension of of electricity supply to the capital city of Freetown on the 5th of July 2022, as purported by a social media report, due to non-payment of invoices.
After checking with MOF, EDSA and Karpower they inform us that “there will be no suspension of electricity supply on the 5th of July 2022”.
Senior officials at the Ministy of Finance have assured members of the public that Karpowership will not shut down its operation, stating further that, the issue of outstanding invoices have long been addressed by the government of Sierra Leone.
Therefore, the Ministry stated that Karpowership would not shut down or suspend operation as rumored on several social media platforms.
MOF, MOE, EDSA and Karpower claimed that they have a very good relationship and the issue of non-payment as circulated have long been addressed by the government of Sierra Leone and there has been a convivial working relationship existing between the government of Sierra Leone and management of Karpowership.
