The Managing Director of the Sierra Leone Postal Services, Mr. Brima Kater has on Thursday 15th 2022, stated that in commemoration of this year’s World Postal Day that will be observed on Sunday 9th October 2022, his institution will hold a letter writing competition for N.P.S.E and J.S.S Pupils.
Mr. Brima Katter added by calling all intended participants to submit their letter writings on or before 26th September 2022. Mr. Kater said the Sierra Leone Postal Services has offices in all regional headquarters in Sierra Leone. He disclosed that they are facing challenges caused by today’s technological inventions such as internet, WhatsApp, Facebook and other technological platforms. He said that the 21st Century challenges has led the institution to introduce new policies that are beneficial to all Sierra Leoneans. He disclosed that the Sierra Leone Postal Services was established in 1847 under the Universal Postal Union, adding that, since 1961 to the late 70s, there was still the traditional methods of using papers to write letters to people or communicating business messages. He further stressed that at that time, table telephones were widely used. He went on to say that trains and transportation vehicles were also used to deliver letters to people. He said that, with the new technology in place, things have changed, as you can sit at home and communicate with the rest of the world.
Mr. Kater assured members of the public that the Sierra Leone Post Services has rebranded its services to meet the demands of the public.
“ The Sierra Leone Postal Services has all the Cadre for effective delivery service, he said, adding by appealing all those that are willing to compete to submit their writings on time as their will be no space for late submission of letters. He assured that the process will be very transparent.
