3 Remanded For Alleged Land Fraud

65 years Old Saio Kamara a Petty Trader, 36 years Old Joseph Kamara a business man and 30 years old Josephine Kamara a business woman were arraigned before Magistrate Mark Negegba of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, on three count charges of conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and two counts of obtaining money by false pretense contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, on dates between Wednesday 29th December 2021 to Wednesday 2nd January 2022 at No. 31 Old Railway Line Brookfields in the Western Area of Freetown conspired together with intent to defraud the sum of hundred and eighty five million Leones (385, 000, 00) from one Alhaji Ibrahim Sorie Jalloh in the pretext of having seven town lot at Hastings Freetown for Sale knowing same to be false.

On count two, on the 29th December 2021 with intent to defraud obtained the sum of one hundred and seventy million (170,000,000) from the said Alhaji Ibrahim Sorie Jalloh by falsely seven town lots of land for sale three at the same place and obtained the sum of two hundred and fifteen million Leones (215,000,000) from Alhaji Ibrhaim Sorie Jalloh by falsely pretending that he has seven town lots of land for sale knowing same to be false.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and remanded the accused persons to the Male and Female Correctional Centers in Freetown and the matter was adjourned to the 25th October 2022 for further hearing.

Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy is prosecuting the matter.
