The Sierra Leone Police has on Thursday 18th August 2022, declared the
Publicity Secretary of the main opposition APC party in the Eastern Part of
Freetown, Mr. Tejan Jalloh and family wanted for allegedly participating in the
August 10th riot.

the Sierra Leone Police, Mr. Fayia Sellu, accused Mr. Tejan Jalloh of the APC

However, the Interim Transitional Chairman of the main opposition APC party,
Alfred Peter Conteh has referred to the Press Release of the Sierra Leone
Police as a witch hunt to clampdown on members and supporters of the main
opposition APC party that are exposing the human rights violations and hardship
in the country. The APC Interim Transitional Chairman has also called on the
Sierra Leone Police to be professional in executing their duties, adding by
noting that, they are working for the state and should not allow members of the
ruling SLPP party to use them to cause mayhem on members and supporters of the
main opposition APC party.
“The protesters are not APC members and supporters but people who are tired
with the level at which the SLPP party has destroyed the economy of the country
and violated the rights of peaceful citizens,” the APC Interim Chairman said,
stating further by calling on members of the Diplomatic Community and others to
come to their aid. He further expressed that, no member of the APC is safe at
this time that the ruling SLPP government officials are finding excuses for
their misdeeds. He also called on the Inspector General of the Sierra Leone
Police to release Mr. Tejan Jalloh, the Publicity Secretary of the APC party in
the Eastern Part of Freetown and family.

Jalloh by stating that, he did not participate nor does he influence anyone to

only came out to look for his missing brother who went to fetch water from
nearby tap in the Eastern part of Freetown. The witness stating further that,
while Mr. Tejan Jalloh was in search of the young man that was missing, owing

the ruling SLPP party, he was arrested by the police.

and taken to an unknown location, adding that, Mr. Tejan Jalloh was stripped
naked, molested, beaten and had cigarettes burnt on his bare skin. The

Prior to this, one of the eyewitnesses said that, his wife Salma Kamara and
his daughter Malaika Tejan Jalloh were enlisted to join the traditional ‘Bondo’
Society, which is the Female Genital Mutilation. Sadly, the eyewitness stated
that, Mr. Tejan Jalloh and wife have lost their first daughter during the Bondo
initiation ceremony. He went further to say that, since they were enlisted for
the Bondo initiation ceremony, all efforts made to get them into the Bondo
society bush were futile as they are nowhere to be seen.
