In line with translating one of the aims and objectives of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio in wooing investors into the country, one of the prominent sons from the Eastern Region of Sierra Leone, the parliamentary representative, Hon. Alusine Kanneh who doubles as the Deputy Chief Whip of Sierra Leone House of Parliament has succeeded in making it possible for the Bravura Gold Mining Company to gain a foothold in the mining sector of the country to commence full mining operations.
Indeed, it becomes an easy transition for the ordinary people when true leaders are at the forefront of development, an accolade that resonates with Honorable Alusine Kanneh whose excellent leadership is not just attributable to his honorary status or his role as Deputy Chief Whip in Parliament but as his impeccable act of supporting his people.
On the 4th January, 2023, the Honourable Member of Parliament led a team to unveil mining equipment worth $4 million dollars, at the Queen Elizabeth 11 Quay also known as Water Quay, which was shipped by Bravura Gold Mining, a company in which he is a shareholder, and he brought to Sierra Leone when he left Norway to serve his people in Parliament.
Addressing all the relevant stakeholders present, Hon Kanneh, underscored how the operations of the mining company will create job opportunities for most residents in that part of the country emphasizing that such will reduce the rate of poverty as residents are to be gainfully employed, putting them at vantage positions to take care of their responsibilities.
He also indicated that the company will be rolling out their Corporate Social Responsibility and the community will stand to benefit from various projects that will be implemented in due course.
“As you know that Government needs money to undertake certain developmental programmes and the taxes that will be paid will significantly contribute to the national revenue basket,” he maintained, adding that the landowners will surely benefit from royalties that will be paid by the mining company.
In an exclusive interview with the Paramount Chief of the host community, he stated that they wholeheartedly welcome the management of the company in their community, underscoring the significance of the investment.
