AS THEY CONTINUE THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS…SLCB HOLDS THANKSGIVING SERVICE AND JUMAH PRAYERS RESPECTIVELY

The Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Limited (SLCB), the leading indigenous bank, held the Jumah prayers at Hamdallah Mosque, Naimbana Street, Freetown, and Thanksgiving Service at the Wesley Methodist Church, Lamina Sankoh Street, on February 17th and 19th, 2023, in Freetown.

The observation of the Jumah prayers and Thanksgiving service was part of the SLCB’s 50th anniversary celebrations to offer prayers for the deceased. Managing Directors and Staff, as well as the bank’s successes in delivering values to the people on the theme: “50 Years Together, Moving to a More Prosperous Future.”

Reading his sermon, the Chief Imam of Hamdallah Mosque, Sheik Abu Bakarr Conteh emphasised SLCB’s wide range of financial services, including digital banking, online banking, QR payment, and retail banking, among other services, to the satisfaction of customers. He further acknowledged past members of the bank that have worked diligently without which the bank would not have been a big success worth celebrating.

The Chief Imam urged the current staff to continue the good work and be steadfast in maintaining the status of the bank as the leader in the banking industry.

According to him, the bank is moving into a prosperous future after fifty years as a result of the dynamic and committed leadership at the bank in delivering the expected value to customers. The Chief Imam, however, spoke against the disunity amongst the staff that has the propensity to disrupt the progress of the bank. He also urged them to cooperate in the interest of the institution.

SLCB Acting Board Chairman, Mohamed Fuuad Daboh, expressed a similar sentiment, stressing that had it not been for the sacrifices of past staff of the bank, it would not have attained such a peak. He prayed for the deceased MDs, staff, and Board m Chairman, Dr. James David Rogers, for their selfless contributions to the bank’s big successes.

The Bishop of Wesley Methodist Church, Rev. Bob Williams, preached on integrity and honesty among the staff to ensure the good image of the bank remains intact. He also called on the leadership to work professionally. He urged the current staff to give their best to maintain standards at the bank and to be honest in all that they are doing.

The Thanksgiving Service and Friday Jumah prayers climaxed with pass along Siaka Steven Street and Lightfoot Boston Street.
