Kingdom Community is among the communities in Freetown that is experiencing a lot of illnesses among them is malaria which is often caused by mosquitos breeding in the drainages within the community as a result of the untidiness due to the bormeh dumping site in the community.
One of the local authorities, Ya Alimamy noted that malaria is a common ailment in their community. She further noted that waste dump is one of the causes of malaria in their community. She also stated they have poor drainage facilities in the community. She called for government support.
A local resident, Mohamed Alpha Koroma disclosed that he has also encountered malaria through mosquito bite. He also called for support from the Ministry of Heath to come to their aid. He disclosed that lack of drainage facilities is a major challenge in the community.
Famata Bangura a trader said malaria is rampant in the community due to the fact that the community is situated very close to a dumping site which is a breeding area for mosquitoes. She added that government and other health partners should come to the aid of the Kingtom community.
