Port Loko Magistrate Court Sentences 8 Persons for Riotous Conduct and Related Offenses

The incident took place in Lunsar, Marampa Chiefdom.

The accused persons Alpha Gbankay,  Santigie Kamara,  Francis Conteh, Mohamed Conteh,  Alie Koroma,  Anthony Macarthy,  and Ibrahim Koroma,  all from Lunsar in Marampa Chiefdom were arraigned before Magistrate Elizabeth Sheila Bangura of the Magistrate Court in Portloko on four count charges to wit: Riotous Conduct, contrary to Section 12 (a) of the Public Order Act,  1965, Disorderly Behavior,  contrary to Section 12 of the Public Order Act No  46 of 1965 as amended by Section 15 of Act No. 12 of 1973, Throwing Missiles, contrary to Section 6 of  the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965, and Carrying of Offensive weapons,  contrary to section 16 (1) of the Public Order Act of 1965 for which the second accused Santigie Kamara was charged with.

The accused persons were arrested on Monday 26th June 2023 at Madigbo junction in Lunsar, Marampa Chiefdom by the Sierra Leone Police for behaving in a riotous and disorderly manner.

The case is said to have a political trace, as it attracted quite a leading number of onlookers at the Magistrate Court from the nearby communities and neighbouring towns and villages.
