Freetown, September 13, 2024 – Justice Jusu Kallon, a 19-year-old unemployed individual, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 on two counts of housebreaking and larceny. The charges, filed under Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916, relate to incidents that allegedly occurred on May 7, 2024.
The prosecution alleges that Kallon unlawfully entered the dwelling of Josephus Choe Junior Mamie at W-7 Spur Loop, Western Area, Freetown, and stole items including an Intenso Gabbana perfume, a school bag, and other assorted goods valued at Le212,414.00. The second count accuses Kallon of breaking into the same residence on the same date and stealing a silver flashlight, a long-sleeve wooden shirt, and other items worth Le20,008.
Upon being read the charges, Kallon did not enter a plea. Inspector Kadie M. Taylor presented evidence in the case, including various items related to the alleged thefts. Sergeant 8576 Issa Kamara from the Exhibit Office at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) testified about the secure handling of the evidence, which included screwdrivers, a slipass, old clothing, and other personal items.
The evidence was formally tendered in court, registered under serial number RCE 0432/2024, and has been in police custody since May 14, 2024.
Magistrate Kekura denied bail for the accused, remanding him to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to September 20, 2024, for further proceedings.
