Africell Sierra Leone has on Friday 28th May, 2021 made a donation to the Macauley Street Government Hospital of items which include a 10,000 liter Milla Tank, 40 Afri-phones, and assorted food Items. The event took place at the premises of the Hospital which is situated on Macauley Street in Freetown.
The event started with a tour of the Macauley Street Government Hospital led by the Matron of the hospital who took the Human Resource Manager of Africell Sierra Leone, Patricia Jangah, and other members of staff of Africell.
Speaking during the event, the Human Resource Manager of Africell Sierra Leone, Patricia Jangah, expressed appreciation to the Doctors and Nurses of the Macauley Street Government Hospital for their passion towards their job describing them as heroes and heroines.
She stated that as a telecommunications company they do care about all especially their esteemed customers adding that the visit is part of the company’s strides towards giving back to society saying it forms part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
She added that on behalf of the Africell Sierra Leone she is pleased to hand over the following items which include a 10,000 liter Milla Tank, 40 Afri-phones, and food items as support to the hospital, furthering that it will not be a one stop affair as they will continue to support the facility.
She revealed that during the conducted tour of the facility she noticed a lot of challenges plaguing the facility and promised to communicate them with the Management of the company.
Receiving the items, the Medical Officer at the Macauley Street Government Hospital, Dr. Adrian Hanciles, expressed appreciation to Africell for the donated items which he said will definitely boost the hospital.
He said that over the years water has been a big challenge to the hospital of which he said he is with the strong conviction that the Milla Tank will support the facility in terms of making water available.
Matron at the Macauley Street Government Hospital, Isatu Kamara also showered praises on Africell Sierra Leone for the gesture which she described as not only important but very timely.
She appealed to Africell for partnership with the hospital in order to make the hospital better.
She revealed that the facility has a lot of challenges ranging from unavailability of a Standby Generator, Blood Bank etc. of which she said they will be happy if Africell will come to their aid in order to help upgrade the facility to a more appreciable standard.
