As part of its support to the development trajectory of the country, Africell Mobile Company in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and African Young Voices have presented prizes to winners of the national Anti-Corruption creative competition 2021.
This event was held on Thursday 27th January 2022 at the Anti-Corruption Commission head office, Gloucester Street in Freetown.
According to the Director of Public Education and Outreach of the Anti-Corruption Commission, the National Anti-Corruption Creative Competition 2021 is geared towards raising awareness on the fight against corruption in the country. Mr. Patrick Sandi added that through the support of Africell Mobile Company and AYV Media Empire; the Anti- Corruption Commission was able to stage the second edition of the Anti- Commission Competition, which he said was held last year. Mr. Sandi went on to say that the competition was meant for young people to sound their views and suggest ways that the commission can use in the fight against corruption in the country. Mr. Sandi continued by stating that the 2021 competition created the platform for young to assess the fight against corruption in the past two years.
He concluded that “the three winners will receive their prizes respectively: 1st position goes to Godefrina Favor Kamara with the Star price of (le 50,000,00) fifty million leones, 2nd prize position goes to Priscilla Gborie with (Le 30,000,000) thirty million leones and 3rd prize position goes to Alusine G. Kamara with (Le 20,000,000) twenty million leons.”
Speaking on behalf of Africell Mobile Company, Mr. John Konteh said that the competition was sponsored by Afrimoney, adding that Afrimoney is the new face of mobile money transaction in the country. Mr. John Konteh went on to say that Africell Mobile Company has supported every aspect of development in the country. He went on to say that the competition has given young people the opportunity to contribute in the fight against corruption. Mr. John Konteh disclosed that Africell Mobile Company and the Anti-Corruption Commission have been working in close partnership. He concluded by congratulating the winners and assured the Anti-Corruption Commission of their continued support in the fight against corruption.
The Deputy Commissioner of ACC, Mr. Augustine Foday Ngobie also applauded the winners for their mouthwatering presentations. He said to control corruption in Sierra Leone is a huge task. For them to succeed, he said that it all depends on the people of Sierra Leone to cooperate with the commission in exposing corrupt officials. He thanked Africell Mobile Company and AYV Media Empire for their support.
