Anthony Bangura Declares to Head the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association

As he is set to transform the National Cycling Association, Mr. Anthony M. Bangura has declared his intention to contest for the presidency of the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association.

In an exclusive interview with this medium, Mr. Anthony M. Bangura has expressed his determination in giving the National Cycling Association a facelift if elected into office come Saturday 17th June 2023.  As a former cyclist, he added that, he intends to foster peace and unity in the association with the view of not leaving anyone behind.

“For almost ten years now, cyclists in the country have not been participating in major competition in and out of Sierra Leone,” he said, adding that, if elected into office, he will ensure that the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association participates in major competitions outside Sierra Leone. He further assured that he will use his international recognition in the World Cycling as well as the Africa Cycling Confederation to transform the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association. He further highlighted the lack of office space as a major challenge but stressed that if elected will work together with other members to secure an office space to run the day to day affairs of the association as well as to lobby their international partners for support. He continued by stating that, providing opportunities for the cyclists to participate in international competition will serve as a motivation to the cyclists as well as securing their career.

Mr. Anthony M. Bangura has been a member of the Sierra Leone Cyclist Association for over twenty years. Among the three candidates contesting for the presidency, he has secured the highest funds in support of the association. He has also served as Assistant Secretary General. In 2019, Anthony Bangura secured sponsorship from the Sierra Leone Brewery and organized the ‘Trenk Cycling Race’ and also secured funds from the Sierra Leone Airport Authority and organized the annual April 27th cycling race.
