APPA Chairman in bigTrouble

The Chairman of the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), Mr Abdulai Masianda Bangura on Wednesday April 13 2022 held his first mediation between the chairman of the People’s Democratic Parties (PDP) Sobeh) Mr. Prince Coker who doubles as chairman of the All Political Parties Association (APPA) in lieu of a Judgment passed by Hon. Justice King of the High Court No.3 giving a notice of 21 days to the PPRC to settle the impasse of PDP party.

 In the allegation of Mandamous filled by the executive of the PDP in the High Court, the executives, or plaintiff Mr. Gibrilla Turay, Mr Alkasimu L. Sesay and Sheikh Alpha Sesay have accused the PDP of embezzling the sum of twenty million Leones. Prince Coker pleaded guilty when he was indicted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and paid the money to the party’s account, the ACC equally informed the PPRC over the years about their findings of which the PPRC failed to comply with their demands despite numerous meetings held with former commissioners Thompson and Hamilton. They said, this is contrary to the constitution of the party.

In another similar allegations, the PDP Executives also presented a case of a vehicle entrusted to Prince Coker which was alleged that he sold out without the knowledge of members of PDP. The vehicle was a donation made by the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr Jonathan GoodLuck. Prince Coker is also accused of printing complimentary cards which are in possession of the Acting Secretary General of the Party Alhaji Ben Kamara purporting to be chairman and leader of the party.

 Another document also implicated Mr. Coker of nominating candidates in previous bye-elections and including other names of Executive officials who are not registered members of the party. Prince Coker is also accused of anti-party activities.

In the meeting with the PPRC, Mr. Gibrilla Turay describes Mr Coker as an untrusted man who should not be tolerated to hold any serious position in the country. Chairman Bangura is expected to forward his report to the presiding judge for the final decision to be taken on the matter.
