Freetown, Sierra Leone – Santigie Kamara, a 26-year-old unemployed man, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Monday, 13th January, 2025, facing a single charge of Larceny by Servant, contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The charge states that between April and July 2024, while employed as a clerk at Golden Beach Casino on Beach Road, Aberdeen, Kamara allegedly stole casino betting chips valued at Six Hundred and Seventy-Nine Thousand, Five Hundred and Ninety Leones (NLe 679,590), the property of the casino.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Joan Bull, who is leading the prosecution, requested a bench warrant after the accused failed to appear in court. Magistrate Bangura issued the bench warrant for Kamara and his surety.
The case has been adjourned to 20th January 2025 for further proceedings.
