Due to COVID-19…Ahmadiyya Suspends Annual Conference

Source close to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jammat in Freetown has intimidated that the 5th Khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Masroor Ahmad that is based in London has instructed that the annual conference organized by the mission at the compound of the Ahmadiyya Secondary School in Bo should be postponed because of the Covid-19 cases in Sierra Leone.

The annual conference commonly called “Jalsa Salana” aimed at uniting worshippers of Islam irrespective of whether they are Sunnis or Shits and also Christians. Our Source added that Ahmadies believe that all religions irrespective of their divisions are meant to serve God, the creator of the universe. Our source added that the annual event is also celebrated by other countries around the world where the Jammat has its presence. Our source recalled that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat first had its presence in Sierra Leone in 1921 which saw the establishment of the Ahmadiyya Islamic Primary School at Rokupr in the Kambia District and its first Secondary School in Bo in 1960. It says that since then, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Mission in Sierra Leone has established many primary, Secondary Schools and Hospitals.

In a similar development, teachers of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Secondary School in Kissy, are appealing to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary School Education for approval of their long delayed pin-codes. They told this reporter that they are living in critical socio-economic conditions which warrants their appeal.
