The Sierra Leone Ex-Servicemen Association on Wednesday, 10th November 2021, decorated the Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mohamed Fuaad Daboh at his Walpole Street Office in Freetown in
commemoration of the International Poppy Week.
Welcoming the ex-servicemen, Mr Mohamed Fuaad Daboh said he was very pleased to receive such delegation of people who had sacrificed so much in enhancing the socio-economic development of the nation. He assured them that he would always join them in commemoration of the historic and important poppy week. “Always count on us at NASSIT for the promotion of the poppies all times,” the Director General affirmed.
In his statement, Retired Lt. Col. Samuel E. Tucker, who led the delegation, said it was proper and prudent to decorate the Director General of NASSIT as he was serving both retired and current civil servants. He explained that Mr. Daboh had been very supportive of the Ex- Servicemen’s Association, adding, “The Director General championed the sale of the poppy at NASSIT and his Office was the biggest seller of the poppy in 2020. He has also always accorded us a warm reception.”
He further mentioned that in their thoughts of reaching out to dignitaries in the country, Mr Daboh was topmost on their list for decoration after the launching of the National Poppy Week by his Excellency the President, Rtd Brig. Julius Maada Bio. He described the decoration of the Director General as a manifestation of honour and recognition for his immense contributions to the Sierra Leone Ex-Servicemen’s Association. The
Poppy Week , he stated was observed by all Commonwealth countries.
In his closing remarks, he assured the Director General of paying courtesy calls at his office from time to time. “We will be coming around to keep the relationship going and also for better acquaintance, ” he affirmed.
