Investigations conducted by this medium in ten Junior Secondary Schools, indicated that some schools in Freetown have bent on in tarnishing the Free Quality Education programme of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio by instituting exorbitant charges for Junior Secondary School admission.
This has brought a lot of trauma to parents that cannot afford the money for their children admission to the school of their choice. This is in direct affront to the Free Quality Education that was launched by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio in support of children whose parent cannot afford money to send their children to school.
Our investigations have proven further that these school authorities don’t only levied exorbitant charges on poor parents but it is a deliberate ploy to tarnish the gains made by President Julius Maada Bio in the Free Quality Education Programme.
At a popular school located in the center of the Freetown, this medium discovered that space were sold out to parents even before the results were announced by government. This means that whether their pupils pass or fail, the parents were assured of securing admission for their pupils.
Also, private schools are notorious oforadmitting pupils without the government passing grades.
Some parents who are frustrated with the scheme have called on the scorpion Squad of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to intervene.
