Following allegation of incitement of protesters on August 10… Police Declare Musicians & Others Wanted

A popular RnB singer and song writer, Daniel Mosima AKA Danny Mo and Gallon Pan and team have been declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police over allegation of incitement of protesters of the August 10 protest in Freetown and beyond.

According to the press statement from the Sierra Leone Police which was signed by the head of the Police alleged that the popular RnB Singer and song writer, Daniel Mosima AKA Danny Mo is a leading vocalist and producer of the song in one of our local dialects krio titled: “SLPP don fail we.” Meaning in English the ruling SLPP Government led by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio did not deliver to the people of Sierra Leone. The press statement among others indicated that the song is one of the reasons that ignited many youth to take to the street of Freetown to protest against the government in the process lots of lives and properties were destroyed. The police chief further indicated that at different locations in the country the protesters were bold enough to play the song done by Danny Mo and Gallon Pan and team.

” We therefore declare Daniel Mosima and Gallon Pan and team wanted for incitement and other related offenses,” said the Chief Commissioner of the Sierra Leone Police, adding by placing a ransom on anyone that will provide vital information that will lead to the arrest of the musicians and others.

In response, the President of the Sierra Leone Artist Union has condemned the statement issued by the Chief Commissioner of Police by referring to it as a blatant attack on freedom of expression. The Artist Union President further argued that it’s their role to speak truth to power by putting the ruling government and other sector on their toes through their art.

” This is not the first time they are attacking and declaring our members wanted,” stating further that after Emerson Bockarie released the song titled: “Borbor Bele” he was verbally attacked by members of the then ruling APC government led by former President Ernest Bai Koroma for exposing duty bearers that are engaging in corruption. This time around, he stated that, their members are currently under attack for merely exposing the corruption and human rights violations of the ruling SLPP government.

He further condemned the raids of the resident of the musicians by armed police and military personnel of the state. He described the intimidation of their members as huge violations of their Hunan rights and a blatant disregard for their role in a democratic dispensation.

Investigation mounted by this medium, indicated that before the Police raided the residence of the Danny Mosima and Gallon Pan and team they have already fled out of the country for fear of being killed by members of the security forces.

Further investigation mounted by this medium indicated that Danny Mo’s travel was just a coincidence with the incident. Our sources added that Danny Mo travel few days before the protest. These sources also described the attacks of Danny Mo and other musicians as a calculated attempt by the security forces to silent dissenting views in the country. They further stated that, the protest is in connection of the ineptitude of the ruling SLPP Government to provide solutions to the economic situation in the country.

“With the hike in the prices of food stuffs and other goods in the country, one would safely say that the ruling SLPP Government has failed to deliver in its manifestos promise,” said one Mariatu a resident of the east end of Freetown. She called on the ruling SLPP Government to stop the blame game and fix up the abysmal state of the economy.

All efforts made to get the reactions of the RnB singer and Gallon Pan and team have proven futile as their phones were switched off or out of coverage.
