The Hope of Glory Foundation (HGF), a non-political organization headquartered at 71 Roberts Street in Freetown, brightened the lives of 150 children on December 26, 2026, with a special amusement event in Kobba Water, a community in the Western Rural District. The event, attended by parents, guardians, and community leaders, was part of the foundation’s mission to support underprivileged children.
In his opening address, Mr. Sulaiman Surtus Kamara, Consultant and Country Director of HGF, reflected on the foundation’s origins. Established in 2020 by Pastor Matthew Papa Kamara and his wife in the United States, the foundation was created to address the humanitarian needs of children, focusing on education, health, and advocacy. Mr. Kamara explained that the founders, being Sierra Leoneans, were motivated to contribute to the development of future leaders. He noted that Kobba Water was selected for this event due to the pressing humanitarian needs of the community.
“If more fortunate Sierra Leoneans could emulate this example,” Mr. Kamara said, “parents across the country would have renewed hope for their children’s futures.” He encouraged parents to support the foundation and its dedicated volunteers, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in improving children’s lives.
Madam Kadija Jalloh, head of finance and active coordinator of HGF, highlighted the foundation’s Christian values and its commitment to nurturing children into valuable members of their communities and future leaders. She stressed that such care requires passion, love, and unity.
“The foundation plans to extend its support to other underserved communities,” Madam Jalloh said, “and we welcome partnerships from other sponsors to help achieve our goals.” She also appealed to parents and guardians to remain steadfast in their responsibilities, regardless of challenges, as the well-being of the children under their care is paramount.
The event—a vibrant celebration—featured children dressed in green and yellow T-shirts singing and dancing with joy. The picturesque setting, with cold mountain breezes complementing the sunny day, created an uplifting atmosphere. Meanwhile, elders and community members watched from under the trees, their faces lit with smiles.
The program also included speeches from notable figures, such as Field Supervisor Michael Moijueh and Chief Adviser Sesay. Representatives from “Cry from the Slums” and other organizations also shared messages of hope and encouragement, emphasizing the importance of building a brighter future for Sierra Leone’s children.
The Hope of Glory Foundation’s initiative serves as a testament to the power of community and compassion. By prioritizing the needs of underprivileged children, the foundation not only provides immediate relief but also inspires others to contribute to a more equitable and hopeful future.
With its continued efforts, the foundation hopes to leave a lasting impact on Sierra Leone’s most vulnerable communities.
