INDEPENDENT MEDIA COMMISSION

The Independent Media Commission was established by The IMC Act of 2000 as amended which Act was repealed and replaced by the IMC Act No. 5 of 2020, to provide for the registration and regulation of mass media institutions in Sierra Leone licencing institutions engaged in radio, television or direct to home digital satellite service broadcasting and registration of persons and institutions engaged in the publication of newspapers, magazines in Sierra Leone and to provide for other related matters.

The Commission currently seeks to recruit Drivers —2

Reports to: Senior Driver

Location: Freetown

Job Summary:

The Driver is responsible for safely operating a vehicle to transport passengers or goods from one location to another. This role involves adherence to traffic laws, maintaining the vehicle in good working condition, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport Commissioners, Staff or official visitors and materials to designated locations in a timely and safe manner.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and Commission’s policies.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on the vehicle.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and overall maintenance of the vehicle.
  • Keep accurate logs of trips, mileage, and fuel consumption.
  • Promptly inform the Commission of tickets issued against the Commission’s vehicles during work hours.
  • Ensuring that the Commission’s vehicle is always parked in areas that permit parking in order to avoid towing/clamping.
  • Assist passengers with loading and unloading luggage or goods.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers.
  • Handle emergency situations appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as instructed by your Human Resource Manager or the Executive Secretary as and when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • Clean driving record.
  • High school certificate or diploma is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and regulations and local roads and routes.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Working knowledge of.
  • The ability to utilize maps, GPS systems, and car manuals.
