According to report from the Sierra Leone’s Immigration Department has indicated that over five hundred passports have been issued to job seekers abroad.

This has clearly indicated that the Sierra Leone’s Passports are in high demand and there are bizarre mad rushed and queues currently at the Immigration Department. This also revealed the high rates of unemployment in the country.

CID Head Quarters reported that the issuing of police clearance to applicants have been put on hold until they are issued with visas. Our investigations have revealed that some officials at the Ministry of Labour have taken advantage of the situation by extortingmoney from the applicants.

But officials at the Ministry has denied any involvement with agents, they told this reporter that the process is transparent and interviews are presently being conducted to select qualified applicant.

The opportunity to overseas employment is basically meant for women over 18 years and contractual candidates are expected to work for a period of two years.

Sources say more than 55% are graduate and the remaining are BECE and WASSCE holders. Successful candidates are warned not to have relations with men as SHARIA LAWS stipulates that anyone caught will be stoned to death.

Labor officials are expected to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia every six months to access their conditions at work while the Sierra Leone Embassy in Riyad will conduct periodic visits.
