Koko Ventures Limited Leads Campaign to Combat Kush Addiction

Grafton, Sierra Leone – On Saturday, June 29, 2024, Koko Ventures Limited, supported by the National Task Force on Drugs and Substance Abuse and powered by Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, launched a poignant campaign aimed at combating Kush addiction among victims in Grafton. The theme, “Stop Kush to Regain Your Good Health and Human Dignity,” underscored the urgency of addressing the detrimental effects of Kush consumption.

The event commenced with a spirited procession featuring placard-waving participants, including Kush addicts who took a proactive role in advocating for cessation and seeking assistance. The campaign culminated in a football match, inaugurated by APC Councilor Alusine Kargbo of the Western Rural District, symbolizing community unity in the fight against drug abuse.

Osman Kokofele, Manager of Team Koko Ventures Limited, emphasized that the sensitization efforts extended beyond mere awareness to practical strategies for identifying and addressing Kush sellers in Grafton. Addressing Kush victims directly, he reassured them of societal reintegration opportunities and urged them to seize the chance for rehabilitation.

Chairperson Lawyer Marian Sesay joined organizers in counseling Kush addicts, stressing the importance of reclaiming health and personal dignity through cessation. Victims bravely shared personal stories of Kush’s impact on their lives and pledged immediate cessation from smoking.

The event garnered support from local artists, MCs, councilors, stakeholders, and chiefs, all lauding the initiative’s comprehensive approach to tackling Kush distribution and addiction. Efforts to map Kush sellers were particularly commended for their potential to disrupt the supply chain and curb consumption.

As Sierra Leone continues its battle against substance abuse, initiatives like Koko Ventures Limited’s campaign serve as crucial steps toward fostering healthier communities and empowering individuals to break free from addiction.
