The aftermath of the August 10 protest in Goderich Community has left a trail of casualties, both police and civilian. Security forces are intensifying efforts to apprehend key figures responsible for the chaos, notably a group identifying themselves as APC Vigilantes led by Saidu Koroma and his assistant Alhaji Sheku Kanneh.
In a recent operation led by Lt. Col. Marrah A., a joint police and military force managed to apprehend some members of the gang, though the leaders and others remain at large. Among those sought are Ansu Michael Koroma, Amara Kanneh, Mohamed Mansaray, Alhassan Jalloh, and Mariatu Koroma.
Addressing the press at the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters, Assistant Commissioner Brima Kamara stressed the importance of apprehending the leaders to restore peace and harmony to the community. However, community elders such as Pa. Ibrahim Musa Sesay and local trader Madam Isha Kargbo express concern over the crackdown on youth, describing it as a troubling sign for the country.
Pa. Ibrahim Musa Sesay, in an interview, emphasized that Saidu Koroma, Alhaji Sheku Kanneh, and others fled for their lives amidst threats from law enforcement. A reward has been announced for any information leading to their arrest, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
