Murder trial of 7 Accused Starts Before Justice Ganda in Pujehun District

Judiciary of Sierra Leone Communications, High Court Pujehun Town, 17th August 2021: The Bo Resident High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Alfred T. Ganda who’s currently presiding over cases at the August High Court Criminal Sessions has opened the murder trial Sundufu Bundu.

The seven (7) accused persons; Mustapha Feika (Alias Gondi), Foday Mansaray, Ibrahim Massaquoi (1), Ibrahim Massaquoi (2) Tommy Tucker, Abu Feika, Musa Feika alias Kobay are before the Court on an eight-count indictment including Conspiracy, Murder, Wounding with Intent, Wounding, Assault Occasioning to Actual Bodily Harm among others.

The particulars of offence state that the accused persons on the 9th of May 2020, in the bush between Sawula and Longu Villages, in the Kpanga Chiefdom Pujehun District, in the Southern Province of the Country, conspired together with other persons unknown to murder Sundufu Bundu.

It is also alleged that Musa Feika alias Kobay wounded with intent Mohamed Lahai Fallay while Mustapha Feika alias Gondoi wounded with intent Mustapha Harding Conteh.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offence charged upon their arraignment.

Led in evidence by Principal State Counsel Yusuf Sulaiman Koroma, the first prosecution witness, DPC 14529 Mamoud Joseph Bangali, said he’s attached to the Regional Criminal Investigation Department in Bo and recognized the accused persons.

He told the Court that he investigated the matter and knew Sundufu Bangali the deceased.
The witness tendered exhibits including the voluntary caution statements of the 5th and 6th accused persons and the printed photos of the deceased and was cross examined.

Two other witnesses testified in the matter including Mustapha Harding Conteh Mohamed Lahai Fallay.
The matter has been adjourned to tomorrow 18th August 2021.

Also, accused persons Bockarie Wonde, Fatorma Brima, Alex Fofanah, Fatorma Mansaray and Moses Morison Bangali alias Pastor pleaded guilty to various sexual offences including sexual penetration, sexual touching and meeting a child for sexual purposes.

Accused Foday Koroma and Abdulai Borsuah pleaded guilty of the offence of house breaking and larceny.

All cases in which the accused persons pleaded guilty were adjourned to Wednesday 18th August for recording and sentence.

Honourable Justice Ganda ordered bench warrant for accused persons and their sureties who absented themselves from the court sitting.

The cases before the court range from Conspiracy, Murder, Sexual Penetration, Wounding with Intent, Possession of Cannabis Sativa, House Breaking and Larceny, Sexual Touching and Meeting a child for Sexual Purposes among others.

The accused persons are represented by Legal Aid Board Lawyer Kabba Sei Coomber.

The High Court Criminal sessions are funded by the Judiciary with funds from the Government of Sierra Leone and aimed at taking justice closer to the people.
