NEAS Donates Cash to Deportees

The Net-Work of Ex-Asylum Seekers (NEAS) situated at 54 Wellington Street on Friday, May 5th 2023 donated cash to deportees who are faced with various challenges upon their arrival home.

In making the donation, the National Coordinator for the Network of Asylum Seekers Mr. Abdulai Daramy revealed that since 2009 when the organization was established to assist deportees from stigmatization and Psycho Social effects, the Network has contributed a lot to their welfare services.

Mr. Daramy said from Ebola to Covid-19, the Network has visited their communities where they have to donate rice, sensitizers, cash and other tokens of great need. He said the deportees are facing serious problems of integration to society, accommodation, jobs and even medical care. He went on to say that, they have recorded eight deaths since 2009. He said despite their appeal for humanitarian assistance to previous and present governments, their voices are yet to be heard. He thanked Medico International based in Germany for being the only organization that has been rendering financial and moral assistance to the organization. He said the small financial tokens to deportees is to always give them hope that someone cares.
