President Bio Is Moving Sierra Leone in the Right Trajectory

His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio that is popularly known for his assertiveness in delivering his manifesto commitment to the people of Sierra Leone, has made remarkable progress in moving the country in the right trajectory by creating sustainable and realistic programs for all Sierra Leoneans.

The recent victory of our darling Leone Stars over the Squirrels of Benin is historic, as over twenty five years Leone Stars was unable to qualify to the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON. It is no surprise that the qualification of Leone Stars to the Africa Cup of Nations that got all Sierra Leoneans jubilating and cracking in singing triumphant songs, was part of the manifesto commitment of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio.

It could be recalled that before President Julius Maada Bio was elected in 2018 presidential election, gave all Sierra Leoneans the assurance that he will take Leone Stars to the continental stage. Indeed he has done, more so to prove to his distractor’s that he is a man that is full of life and that he is passionate about the growth and development of the country.

In just three years in office, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has been able to transform the country with huge investment opportunities for all. He has opened up the mining sector to an enviable one through the Geographical Survey that was conducted throughout the country to identify and unlock the several issues in the mining sector that has the proclivity to attract move investors into the country. Through the recent Geographical Survey, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has put proper measures in place to save the country from being swindled by foreign mining company. President Bio has demonstrated absolute commitment in protecting the rich natural mineral resources of the country like gold, diamond, cooper, iron ore, bauxite and rutile to name but few, in ensuring that Sierra Leoneans take ownership of their minerals through accountability and transparency in all mining transactions that are taking place in the country.

Also under the leadership of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, Sierra Leone’s democratic governance is gaining global attention and support from the international communities like the World Bank, IMF and Africa Development Bank.

Although the coronavirus has brought its problems, His Excellency President Julius Maada is currently doing everything possible to improve the living standards of all Sierra Leoneans. President Bio has created the platform for good governance, rule of law, freedom of speech, free press and the observance of human rights.  His Excellency President Bio has taken the bull by its horn by reviewing the obnoxious Criminal Libel Law, others before him were blatantly defiant to repeal the law despite all pressures from the Sierra Leone Association of Journalist, Civil Societies and other human rights defenders in the country.

In the fight against corruption, the MCC score card has shown that under the tenure of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, Sierra Leone has made amazing progress in the fight against corruption from 49% in 2007 to 71% in 2019 and now 81% in 2020. This is described as a world record, that no country in the world has developed rapidly like Sierra Leone in the fight against corruption. This has put Sierra Leone amongst the top ten countries in the MCC score sheet.

Sierra Leone is second in Africa and first in the Mano River Union in the fight against corruption. Similarly, in the Global Corruption Barometer Index, Sierra Leone is ranked 3rd out of 35 countries in Africa.  This became a reality due to the uncompromising stance of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio in the fight against corruption.  President Bio has always place more emphasis on achieving his Human Capital Development; which he said consisted of four pillars, Free Quality Education, Agriculture, Health and Infrastructure. These four pillars are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations for 2030.
