The attention of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has been drawn to a video clip making rounds on social media that shows gory pictures of a young man whose leg was mutilated due to a road crash. There are background voices on the video clip purporting that the victim (deceased) was knocked down or ran-over by the presidential convoy of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone
Management of the Sierra Leone Police wishes it to be known that the attribution of that video clip to the Presidential convoy is false, malicious and misleading.
The truth of the story, relative to the video clip is this: on Wednesday August 25, 2021, at approximately 18:30 hours, along Benguema Road, Waterloo-Tombo Highway, an Astros tipper truck with registration number AHM-530 which was driven by Alpha Umarr Barrie of Calaba Town, Freetown, involved in a road crash with a TVS Motor Bike, registration number yet unknown, ridden by one Ibrahim Bangura (25 yrs.), of No. 9 Fullah Street, Lumpa, Waterloo. As a result, the rider was fatally injured.
