REVEREND DR. AGOROM DIKE VISITS PARLIAMENT OF SIERRA LEONE

Reverend Dr. Agorom Constantine Dike has on Monday 13th September 2021 paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas at his Office, Parliament Building, Tower Hill, Freetown.

The purpose of his visit was to have a first-hand knowledge and information about the operations of the Parliament of Sierra Leone.

Welcoming Reverend Dr. Dike, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas spoke about the composition of Parliament and the roles and responsibilities of MPs including legislation, representation and oversight.

Following discussions with the Hon. Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Reverend Dr. Agorom Dike said he was pleased with the kind reception accorded him and that he was also impressed with the religious diversity existing in Sierra Leone and called on other countries with religious tension to copy from Sierra Leone in light of its religious tolerance. He also talked on Sierra Leone’s successful transitions, organic sea food and beautiful beaches among others. He posited, that his visit to Parliament was to understand its governance for comparative purposes.

During a conducted tour with Dr. Dike led by the Deputy Speaker, including Public Relations and Protocol Staff, the Deputy Speaker took him through the Chamber of Parliament, Members’ Lounge, Canteen, Library, Committee Room One and the Grave Site, where the First Prime Minister, Sir Milton Margai and the First Executive President, Dr. Siaka Stevens were buried respectively.

Deputy Director of Public Relations in Parliament, Sheku Lamin Turay briefed the visitor on the historical overview of the the Parliament of Sierra Leone.

Rev. Dr. Agorom Constantine Dike is the President and Founder of the Caribbean and African Faith-Based Leadership Conference and liaison to the White House Faith-Based Cabinet Offices and also the International Director for the White House Prayer of Our Nations, Inc. He earned a dual Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry Degree from Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, DC in 2009 with a concentration in multicultural and international missions.

He has led numerous humanitarian initiatives and interfaith dialogues to address health disparities and economic development, social justice, stigmatization and HIV AIDS, civic participation, religious literacy, immigration reform and faith-based partnerships among others.
