Report reaching this medium indicated that Ishmeal Kamara Son of the Chief Imam of Umar Bin Alkatab who doubles as the head of the Africa Muslim Agency has been allegedly caught in an act of homosexual in the neighborhood.
In an exclusive chat with the Chairman of the Council of Imams in Sierra Leone, informed this medium that, as Imams they are moral guarantors that should protect and respect the practice of Islam. Imam Gibril Kanu further stated that, Islam forbids the practice of homosexuality and based on that, in an emergency meeting held at their head office at Orogu Allentown, the Council of Imam in Sierra Leone has unanimously agreed to suspend Pa Adekalie Kamara the Chief Imam of Umar Bin Alkatab from all Islamic functions pending the handing over of his son Ishmeal Kamara to members of the Council for the enforcement of Zina.
The Chairman of the Council of Imams continued by stating that, Foday Conteh who was caught in the act of homosexual with Ishmeal Kamara has already been imprisoned for life by the state’s authorities but Ishmeal Kamara was lucky to escape. However, he stated that, they have instructed the youths to go in search of Ishmeal Kamara and arrest him. He further cautioned anyone that is in the practice of homosexual in the neighborhood to stop or else they will have themselves to blame. He concluded by stating that a ransom of four thousand leones equivalent to one hundred United States Dollars have been put for anyone that will provide vital information leading to the Arrest of Ishmeal Kamara.
Also, according to the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act, criminalizes the practice of Homosexual in Sierra Leone and any person who has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be imprisoned. This law is often used to criminalize same-sex relationship, leading to a hostile environment for LGBTQ+ individuals in Sierra Leone.
In an exclusive interview with Pa Adekalie Kamara, the Chief Imam of Umar Bin Alkatab who doubles as the head of the Africa Muslim Agency in a pool of tears expressed that he never knew that his son Ishmeal Kamara has been engaged in homosexual, disclosing further that, he had no idea that he is also a bi-sexual.
“Ishmeal Kamara has been faithful to the practice of Islam and he prays his five daily prayers and sometimes serves as interpreter during my lecture on Friday’s prayers,” Pa Adekalie disclosed, stating further that, as a religious cleric he also vehemently condemned the act of same sex and he will join his colleagues Imams to ensure fullest enforcement of Zina on his son Ishmeal Kamara by ensuring that he goes life imprisonment just like it was applied on others who were caught in the act of same sex. He shed tears that it is a decision that is difficult to make but he has to do it because the practice of Islam is sacrosanct and cannot be altered. He further confirmed to this medium that his service as a Chief Imam and head of the Africa Muslim Agency has been suspended pending the handing over of his son to members of the Council of Imams for the enforcement of the Zina, in accordance to the Islamic faith. He also disclosed that, the residence of Ishmeal Kamara has been burnt down by the youths in the neighborhood who are acting on the instructions of the Council of Imams.
The youth representative in the Kissy Neighborhood, Alimamy Turay swear that they will not rest until they arrest Ishmeal Kamara and hand him over to members of the Council of Imams for the practice of Zina in accordance to the practice of Islam.
Reaching out to the national spokesman of the Sierra Leone Police declined to speak on the matter claiming that it is purely a religious matter and that they have nothing to do as security enforcement body.
All efforts made to get the reaction of Ishmeal Kamara have proven futile.
