Sierra Leone, Egypt, signed MOU to further military cooperation

Sierra Leone and Egypt, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of military cooperation to further enhance bilateral ties. This was signed by Deputy Defense Minister, Rtd. Colonel Brima Muana Massaquoi, who is in a five day visit to Cairo, and his Egyptian counterpart General Mohamed Mohamed Abdellah, Assistant Minister of Defense for Operations and Head of the Egyptian delegation.

Rtd. Colonel B. M. Massaquoi said he is proud of the strategic relationship between Egypt and Sierra Leone Armed Forces in diverse fields with special preference to defense, agriculture, education, and training

General Mohamed Mohamed Abdellah said the consensus reached is to enhance joint exercises and exchange of personnel for training, especially in the fields of military intelligence. “We want to see the implementation of this agreement practically on the ground,” the Assistant Minister said.

The meeting was attended by Brigadier General Abu Bakarr Conteh, Assistant Chief of Defense Staff, Training and Doctrine, Lt. Col. Momoh Emmanuel Luseni and a number of commanders of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
