Sierra Leone Female U-20
Sierra Leone’s Under -20 Female team has begun intense training at the Kingtom- SLFA Training Field in Freetown.
This is in preparation ahead of their FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier in September and October of this year.
The young girls will play against their Guinean counterparts on either the 23rd, 24th or 25th of September in Guinea this year, and if qualified at that level, they would be set to play against another team in their qualifier on either 7th, 8th, or 9th October, 2021.
The team currently has a 42 man squad for trial. This number is however expected to be cut to a final 25 or 20 man squad after the trial.
Victoria Conteh, Head Coach of Sierra Leone’s Female U-20, disclosed she had been across the country to pick out talents to constitute her crop of players.
“Our priority is to have the right players to give the country a coagulated representation in terms of female football in the World. It’s been challenging though, considering the absence of a sustained and effective female league in the country, but the SLFA has been supportive”
Musu Pele, Team Manager of Sierra Leone’s Female U-20, said she’s confident of her girls and satisfied with their hard work so far.
The Sierra Leone U-20 Female has been doing well in recent years. They have a record of winning international competitions.
