The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu B. Pratt, and her team participated in the 2023 ITB Travel Trade Show in Berlin, Germany.
The ITB Travel Trade Show commenced on Tuesday 7th to Thursday 9th of March 2023.
The Minister and team were warmly received by the Sierra Leone Ambassador in Germany Dr. M’Baimba Lamin Bayoh and senior officials of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Berlin, Germany.
In an exclusive interview with German TV, Tourism Minister Dr. Memunatu B. Pratt said that Sierra Leone under the dynamic leadership of President Bio is open for investment in tourism and trade activities. She informed the gathering that Sierra Leone has the infrastructure with beautiful beaches, Islands and mountains. She further informed the gathering that Sierra Leoneans are hospitable to tourists. She stressed that the Trade Travel Show will help to showcase Sierra Leone’s as a tourist destination for all tourists. She also told the audience that, recently Sierra Leone has opened it modern Airport which will allow all kinds of planes to land.
She encouraged people to come and invest in the tourism sector, stating that, Sierra Leone has a historical background which is worth to see and learn from. She commended the Sierra Leone Ambassador to Germany Dr. M’baimba Lamin Bayoh and team for doing a great job in promoting the rich potentials of the tourism sector.
“The ITB Travel Trade Show has over the years developed into the world’s leading Travel Trade Show. This is due to the expert knowledge of an experienced trade team coupled with keen understanding of major trends and developments in the international travel industry,” she lauded, adding further that, it has not only grown in size but has also exhibited numbers, and attendance as a comprehensive industry to showcasing travel products and services from around the world and has served as a growth-intensive niche markets.
She went on to say that the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs with support from the World Bank has recruited marketing representatives in Germany, Spain, the UK, and the USA to package Sierra Leone as an attractive destination for tourists from across the world.
“It is therefore, imperative that the Ministry and its Agencies alongside the private sector participate in the ITB Travel Trade Show to showcase Sierra Leone’s products and explore networking opportunities,” said the Minister of Tourism.
At the end of the program, the Minister and team also engaged in several bilateral discussions with other counterparts in the tourism sector.
