The Director of Operational Support Division, (OSD), Assistant Inspector General of Police Francis Moses Tower, alias Delta 1 on Tuesday 6th June 2022 at a press conference held at the police Headquarters George street Freetown, informed the media that the Sierra Leone Police have arrested Mohamed Konteh and Alimamy Marrah organizers of a riot orchestrated by youths in Kabala Township in August 2016 which brought the entire Kabala Township to a standstill as youths went on the rampage in an open confrontation with police officers thereby disrupting normal business activities that left scores of lives lost. He maintained that the police have declared Alhaji Mansaray a Social Worker and Youth Activist formerly of No 14 Yogomala Road, Kabala – Koinadugu district wanted because the police believed he was part of the organizers of the August 2016 Kabala riot killing.
Mansaray a Social Worker and Youth Activist aged 37 has reportedly been declared wanted by police after he escaped from custody in the aftermath of a riot orchestrated by youths in Kabala Township of which he stands accused for being part the riot organizers. It can be recalled on Tuesday August 16, 2016 youths got information that the proposed youth village that was to be constructed by the government of Sierra Leone in Kabala, Koinadugu district is to be transferred to the Tonkolli district at mile 91 Township. The entire Kabala Township was brought to a standstill as youths went on the rampage in an open confrontation with police officers thereby disrupting normal business activities that left scores of people running helter-skelter for their lives. Due to this information the youths became angry and opposed to the idea of transfer and accused government on reneging on their initial promise of building a youth village in the district.
