On Saturday, Sierra Leone Senior Women’s Cricket Team registered two straight wins against Mozambique and Eswatini in the opening of the BCA Kalahari Women’s T20 Tournament taking place in Gaborone, Botswana.
The sands of Gaborone sang the Ladies’ praise as they held Mozambique to a 7-wicket win, replying with 39 for the loss of 3 in 10.4. Mozambique scored 37 all out in 15.1 overs.
As though the Mozambique show were a warm-up, the Ladies squared off with Eswatini in the second match and restricted them to 27 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs, implementating disciplined fielding mechanisms. The reply was a tasty bake: the Ladies pulled off 28 by maintaining all ten wickets in 3.4 overs. And by ten wickets, they carried the day.
Saturday’s opener has sent a coordinated alarm to other nations in the battle for ICC ranking; Sierra Leone are looking for the biggest prize.
Tomorrow, the Ladies will face host side Botswana to finish their third of five matches in a tournament entertaining 14 encounters.
