The Chairman of Freetown East District of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Mr. John Gbondo Margai has on Saturday 21st August, 2021 donated one hundred and ten bags of rice (110) to eleven (11) constituencies in the eastern part of Freetown.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. John Gbondo Margai said that, the purpose of the donations is to improve the wellbeing of members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) within the District.
He added that, the corona virus has caused huge economicburden in the world over and SLPP members have also been affected, adding that he has considered it prudent to donate the food items in support of members of SLPP party. Mr. Margai went on to say that the donation he unilaterally funded the donation exercise.
“Each constituency receives 10 bags of rice,” he discloses, adding that SLPP members within the designated 11 Constituencies under his watch benefitted from the bags of rice. Mr. Gbondo Margai also reassured the university and college students that they will soon get their own donations.
Madam Maria, Women’s Leader of Constituency 116 and also a beneficiary of the donation, lauded the gesture of the East District Western urban Chairman by describing it as very timely and priceless. The SLPP Women’s Leader further commended Mr. Gbondo Margai for always supporting them. She appealed to other SLPP members to emulate the good leadership qualities of Mr. Gbondo Margai and help to support the vision and aspirations of the SLPP party.
Other beneficiaries also expressed similar sentiments and urged other SLPP members to emulate the leadership qualities of Gbondo Margai.
