University Student Remanded for Alleged Manslaughter

Freetown, Sierra Leone — Luckman Koroma, a 21-year-old student at Njala University Mokonday Campus, has been remanded in custody following his appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1. Koroma faces a charge of motor manslaughter related to a fatal accident that occurred on July 21, 2024.

The court was informed that on the specified date at around 11:00 a.m., Koroma, who was driving a vehicle with registration number ARD 999 FJ Cruiser, was involved in an incident that led to the death of Mohamed Kawa at Cole Farm Junction in the Western Area of Freetown.

When the charge was read and explained to Koroma, no plea was entered. The prosecutor, Inspector Sellu TAP, requested a short adjournment to allow time for further discussions with the witness involved in the case.
