The Vice Chancellor Designate, at the Canadian University of Modern Technology in Mile 91, Professor Allyson Alimamy Sesay has commenced lectures on Faculty Seminar Series, an idea that has been approved to standardize academic related matters at CUMT.
Professor Allyson spoke on Academic Advising, noting that the world over, university students need absolute and accurate mentorship. He said that advising students was one way to guarantee quality results in any academic system and setting.
The seasoned academic further stated that students need all forms of positive encouragements, adding that learners that are not in their right frame of minds may not be productive in studies. He therefore encouraged academic and administrative staff of CUMT to ensure that students are soberly guided on what and what not to do in the university system.
Making a statement during the presentation, Chief Executive and Chancellor of CUMT, Muckson Sesay Snr., commended the presentation of the VC, describing it as one of a kind. He added that university administrators should ensure to act as brighter and better examples to students. Mr. Sesay said that learners always need to find their learning environments accommodating, adding that such has the potential of making students to achieve positive results.
Dean of Arts and Commerce at CUMT, Professor Bob Karankay Conteh discussed that while mentorship and academic advising are very important components in the university system, students and learners should also be ready and able to abide by set policies and procedures. He furthered that patience is also required on the part of university officials in better performing their roles.
Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Dr. Hamza Bangura appreciated Professor Allyson for his presentation and spoke on how CUMT was now adopting a wonderful trajectory in setting up an enviable university structure.
Head of the Business Administration and Management at CUMT, Mr. Modu Sesay informed that experience and quality leadership were crucial aspects needed in any learning environment. He also called on students to be law abiding and further admonished lecturers to be committed in boosting the human resource capacities in society.
Mass Communication Lecturer at CUMT, Ms. Mamadi Monica Khonte earlier informed the gathering that academic advising and mentorship are very pivotal, making references to how the said norms changed her life for the better.
The presentation of the Faculty Seminar Series at CUMT brought together a host of academic and administrative staff including several final year students.
It was said that such presentations will continue to make the agenda at the Canadian University of Modern Technology on a weekly basis and to further boost academic matters, including, but not limited to the publication of university/faculty journals.
